For the past few years, Dominion Resources Inc (NYSE: D) has enjoyed a substantially higher valuation than other utilities thanks to its exposure to the US shale boom. The company operations in this area consist of midstream assets, including natural gas storage and transportation, as well as a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility.
Last September, Dominion announced its intent to unlock additional value for shareholders by spinning off these assets as a separately traded master limited partnership (MLP). Since then, income investors have been anxiously awaiting further details of this offering.
In late March, Dominion finally appeased some of our curiosity by filing its Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The new entity, known as Dominion Midstream Partners LP, will trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol DM, and the proposed maximum size of the offering is $400 million, including over-allotments.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Dan Caplinger]
The reason for the disconnect between earnings and stock performance has to do with the changing fundamentals for shipping overall. For years, shipping companies both on the dry-bulk and the tanker side of the industry have suffered from weakness in the global economy after having built huge numbers of new ships during better times. That forced Overseas Shipholding Group to seek bankruptcy protection late last year and has left tanker giant Frontline (NYSE: FRO ) under considerable financial pressure as it continues to labor under a substantial debt load.

One equity that falls under the small-cap umbrella, and looks poised to benefit from a contrarian boon is shipping concern Frontline Ltd. (FRO).
Shares of Frontline have more than doubled in value since hitting a decade-plus low of $1.71 last May. In fact, the stock tagged a new annual high of $5.18 in early January.

Frontline (NYSE: FRO )
Shares of Frontline, a transporter of oil and oil products, as well as coal and iron ore, shot higher earlier this week despite no specific news. Many investors might remember Frontline as a company that paid out a double-digit yield as recently as a few years ago. However, the landscape of the shipping sector has drastically changed, and even at just $2 a share it's no longer the value it once was. - [By Tyler Crowe]
Oil tankers could also see a benefit as well. With potential of the SUMED pipeline being shut down, it would mean that tankers would need to increase traffic by 2 million barrels per day and increase its shipment times as much as LNG tankers.Norway'sFrontline (NYSE: FRO ) , the world's largest oil tanker fleet, has day rates of about $25,000 for its oil carriers, so it's not as much of a win as LNG carriers. Also, higher fuel prices for all shipments will eat into that revenue boost.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Jonas Elmerraji]
Thinks aren't looking quite so auspicious for shares of small-cap Greek shipping stock Costamare (CMRE). Greek equities enjoyed some buoyancy this year, the result of getting oversold due to headline risk during the economic crisis in the Eurozone. But this stock's down days don't look behind it yet.
That's because Costamare is currently forming the bearish opposite of the bullish pattern in NTT: a descending triangle. CMRE's setup is formed by downtrending resistance above shares and horizontal support down at $16.75 that shares are getting pushed down into. A move through $16.75 is the signal to sell this stock.
Whenever you're looking at any technical price pattern, it's critical to think in terms of buyers and sellers. Triangles, rectangles, and other price pattern names are a good quick way to explain what's going on in this stock, but they're not the reason it's tradable. Instead, it all comes down to supply and demand for shares.
That support line at $16.75 is a price where there's an excess of demand of shares; in other words, it's a place where buyers have been more eager to jump in and buy at lower levels than sellers have been to unload them. That's what makes the move below it so significant -- a breakdown indicates that sellers are finally strong enough to absorb all of the excess demand below that price level. Wait for that signal to happen before you bet against CMRE.

Railroads from Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC ) to Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP ) have been dealing with a declining coal trade in the United States. Although that negative trend hasn't changed yet, there are some key signs of an upturn to watch for.

Railroads have done extremely well in recent years by capitalizing on the big boom in commodities demand, especially overseas. For CSX, coal was a big driver of its major efficiency gains, as more than 70% of coal delivered to electricity-generating power plants goes by rail. But when rock-bottom natural-gas prices led electric utilities to shift from coal to gas to fuel their power plants, CSX and many of its rivals took big hits. In particular, Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC ) , with similar geographic exposure to the Appalachian coal-producing region, shared CSX's declines.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Gary Bourgeault]
This could have a dramatic impact on the company over time, as an Amazon spokeswoman said to CNET that the online retailer "is reviewing the performance of the delivery carriers." What is troubling for UPS is the shipping issues were related to itsinability to process air deliveries quick enough, which could play into the hands of one of its major competitors,FedEx (NYSE: FDX ) .

FedEx (FDX) wowed the market with its earnings and guidance yesterday. The results were so good, in fact, that the folks at RBC Capital Markets upgraded FedEx’s shares to Buy all the way from Underperform.
Getty ImagesRBC’s John Barnes and team list three reasons for the upgrade:
1. Based on management tone over the past few months, we believe FedEx will be successful in re-engineering its profit improvement plan to extract a greater level of costs from the network. This change in strategy gives us greater confidence in the company ability to deliver the bulk of its profit improvement targets and ultimately significant earnings growth over a multi-year timeframe.
2. While the growth from Ground and Freight pales in comparison to the expected increase in Express operating income, it is important to note that both divisions appear to be on solid footing.
3. The expected profit improvement at Express combined with steady growth from Ground and Freight should drive a significant improvement in FedEx’s free cash flow profile. Based on management tone and reinforced by recent activity, we expect FedEx to materially increase the return of capital to shareholders through both share buybacks and dividend increases.
Wunderlich’s Nicholas Bender thinks FedEx’s results bode well for Old Dominion (ODFL), Con-way (CNW) and Saia (SAIA):
We expect all less-than-truckload carriers to benefit in 2Q14 from the same trends that carried FedEx Freight to a banner 4Q14. This includes Hold-rated Old Dominion, which will continue to grow at well above market rates, and Buy-rated Con-way, which we believe can leverage a strong 2Q14 to prime the pump on margin enhancement efforts. Our favorite name in the space remains Saia (SAIA-$42.92, Buy), which will once again see accelerating tonnage growth in 2Q14. Though tonnage growth will moderate in 2H14 due to steeper comps, there remains considerable po

Enbridge has a roughly 23% stake in Enbridge Energy Partners (NYSE: EEP ) , a master limited partnership with a whopping 7.35% distribution. Midstream companies have seen a boom in activities recently that has paid increasing dividends to shareholders. Cash distributions in the industry, however, have not been equal, and some firms have disbursed greater amounts than others. Moreover, financial institutions have highlighted Enbridge Energy Partners (EEP) as a potential market outperformer, granting the stock a uyrating. Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse are the two institutions in question, raising the target price to the low $30s, barely above the $29 value assigned by Zacks last month. The upside to this side of the oil and gas industry is cash flow, and high return on capital invested, coupled with a high-yield offering a good opportunity for a long-term investment. But, will the trend last long enough to make the investment worthwhile?
